These Fox 2.0 shocks were one of the biggest before-and-after differences we've experienced with our Ram 2500 (test vehicle). One of the biggest flaws of the factory suspension on these trucks is the slop over larger bumps, or the continuous bouncing or side to side swaying going up driveways. These Fox 2.0 make significant improvements to the handling and comfort of the truck in almost every situation.
What you get is a front-to-rear shock upgrade with valving tuned for the 2500 platform — not a generic damper repurposed from a half-ton application. The result is a truck that rides flatter over broken pavement, doesn't bob its head on the highway with weight in the bed, and handles the transition from asphalt to dirt without turning every divot into an event.
This kit is for the Ram 2500 owner who daily drives the truck, occasionally loads it up or takes it off-pavement, and wants the most performance per dollar a Fox sticker can buy - without committing to a full suspension overhaul. This kit isn't for those looking to transform an otherwise-stock truck into a luxury riding vehicle - but we do have kits for that.
Pros
- Vehicle specific valving from Fox, which in our experience, leans towards a very forgiving and comfortable response.
- Less head toss on the highway, more composed through driveways, better body control over rough surfaces.
- Rebuildable and serviceable. The ability to refresh, instead of throwing away, matters more on a work truck than people think.
Cons
- Not optimized for towing, while the Fox 2.0 does improve handling in many areas, there are better options if the driver is specifically looking to improve tow/haul capabilities.
- Service interval is real. Plan on a rebuild by 50k miles, depending on how hard you run the truck. Performance shocks aren't a set-it-and-forget-it, especially on a truck that actually works.
Who these are For
The Ram 2500 owner who daily drives the truck, wants improved comfort, uses it for weekend heavy-duties or trail-riding, and wants a real upgrade over factory ride quality.
Who should look elsewhere
Heavy tow-rigs, heavy construction rigs, and other trucks that see serious payload will feel let down - these Fox 2.0 aren't up to the task. Those that use the truck as a daily, and a weekend adventurer with heavy gear should look towards an adjustable 2.0 shock, or Fox's 2.5 Performance Elite that provides additional support and adjustability.
